Ok, so I caved and got one...

Schizostylis coccinea 'Torero' at Wells Medina Nursery. Awfully tempting, isn't it?

  1. Interestingly enough, I was prepping the benches at the nursery (getting ready to overwinter things out back) and came upon this same plant - Schizostylis - only with a salmon pink flower - and decided that it will have to come home with me next pay..... one more spot to find inside! Beautiful plant though, is it not?

  2. Hi Riz~~ They look wonderful close up and in a vase but in the ground, because they bloom so late, the rains can wreak havoc on them. At least this has been my experience. Also, like Crocosmia, they will always come up, even after you've seemingly dug out all the roots. Not necessarily a bad thing but it's something I wish somebody would have told me before I took the plunge. 'Torero' is definitely a yummy color.
